##### Required

- Everymail Guard Encryption ([*How do I know if I have Guard?*](https://www.everymail.com/support/what-is-guard)*)*

##### **To Encrypt a File on Drive**

1. In Drive, select the file you'd like to encrypt
2. Click More actions in the toolbar
3. Select Encrypt from the drop-down menu

##### To Encrypt a File as you Upload

1. In Drive, click the **New** button
2. Choose **Upload file (encrypted)**
3. Select the file(s) you want to upload
4. Click **Open**

**OR**

1. Open Drive
2. Drag the file(s) from your operating system onto the **Drive **window
3. Release in the **lower half** of the window, where you see the text*:
   
   Drop files here to encrypt *

 

NOTE: You can verify that your file is encrypted by the Lock icon next to the file.

##### To Open an Encrypted File

1. Double-click on the file
2. Enter your Guard password
3. *(optional)* Set how long before Everymail will **Ask for password again**
4. Click Confirm
